Ohio sales tax on food: dine-in, carryout and delivery
What's taxed, what isn't, and delivery fees, with official sources.
Online ordering in Ohio
From Cleveland's East 4th Street to Columbus's Short North and Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine, Ohio restaurants and grocery stores can take orders on a website with their own name on it — for a 4% platform fee, not a 15–30% delivery-app commission. See how it works.

Ohio sales tax
In Ohio, food sold to be eaten off the premises (groceries, carryout and delivery) is exempt from sales tax. Food eaten on the premises is taxable at the 5.75% state rate plus your county's rate, and soft drinks and alcohol are taxable either way.
ScomsPOS sets tax per item, so a pickup or delivery order with a meal and a soda taxes the soda and not the food, on your website and at the till. Every sale lands in your books. Confirm your county rate and your own situation with the Ohio Department of Taxation.
